Turkey reveals volume of cargo shipment via local ports from India

Over 2.23 million tons of cargo have been transported from India via Turkish ports in the first seven months of 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Sept.1.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, 345 tons of cargo were handled through the ports by ships flying the flag of Turkey, and more than 2.2 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries to Turkish ports.

Meanwhile, no cargo was handled through the Turkish ports by ships flying Indian flag, and slightly over 1 million tons of cargo were transited via the ports from India, the ministry said.

Over 219.5 million tons of goods have been transshipped through the Turkish ports from January through July 2021, 17.5 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 201.9 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

More than 43.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in the first seven months of this year.

Furthermore, nearly 31.3 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in July 2021.

In the same month, around 2.2 million tons of cargo were transported to the domestic ports via ships flying the Turkish flag while via ships flying the flags of other countries – 29.1 million tons.

Meanwhile, over 6.6 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports.
