Turkey shares data on food products, animal feed shipment via local ports for 9M2021

Over 8.2 million tons of food products and animal feed have been transported via Turkey’s ports in the first nine months of 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, 126,523 tons of food and animal feed were handled through the port by ships flying the flag of Turkey, and over eight million tons by ships under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports.

In addition, 31,616 tons of food products and animal feed were transited through the ports of Turkey.

Also, the ports of Turkey handled 253 million tons of cargo in 9M2021.

During the reporting period, the volume of cargo transported via the ports by ships flying the flag of Turkey amounted to more than 20 million tons, while cargo transportation through the ports of Turkey by ships under the flags of other countries amounted to over 233 million tons

In addition, during the specified period, Turkish ports handled 50.2 million tons of transit cargo.

The ports of Turkey as a whole handled 34 million tons of cargo in August 2021.

The volume of cargo transported by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 2.6 million tons, while 31.4 million tons of cargo were handled by ships under the flags of other countries.

It is noted that Turkish ports handled over 6.3 million tons of transit cargo in August 2021.
