Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar held telephone conversations with colleagues from Russia and Ukraine - Sergey Shoygu and Oleksii Reznikov, Trend reports citing the press service of National Defense Ministry of Turkey.
In a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Akar stressed the importance of supporting the safe arrival of civilian ships waiting in Russian ports to depart for Turkey and the opening of a humanitarian evacuation corridor.
Minister also stressed the need for an urgent ceasefire in Ukraine in order to prevent further human casualties.
He also reaffirmed that Turkey strives to provide humanitarian assistance in every possible way and is ready to continue to contribute to ensuring peace in the region.
At the talks with his Ukrainian counterpart, Akar also noted the importance of declaring a ceasefire as soon as possible and keeping humanitarian corridors open for the evacuation of civilians.
In addition, he reiterated that Turkey will continue to contribute to the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine and the establishment of peace.
