Turkey discloses cargo traffic via local ports from US

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The ports of Turkey handled over 6.5 million tons of cargo from the US from January through February 2022, Trend reports citing the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, ships flying the Turkish flag delivered 190,050 tons of cargo from the US to Turkey’s ports and ships flying the flags of other countries – more than 6.3 million tons.

Meanwhile, ships flying the US flag delivered 1,280 tons of cargo to Turkish ports. The ports handled 19,957 tons of transit cargo from the US.

In February 2022, the ports of Turkey handled over 31.1 million tons of cargo.

Besides, in the reporting month, cargo transportation by ships flying the flag of Turkey through local ports amounted to 2.2 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries - 28.8 million tons.

At the same time, Turkish ports handled 6.2 million tons of transit cargo.

Overall, Turkish ports handled 64.4 million tons of cargo from January through February 2022.

During the specified period, cargo transportation by ships flying the flag of Turkey amounted to 4.6 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries - 59.8 million tons.

Meanwhile, Turkish ports handled 13.9 million tons of transit cargo.

The ports of Turkey handled 386.4 million tons of cargo in 2021.

Cargo transportation by ships flying the flag of Turkey amounted to 29.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries - 356.4 million tons last year.

Besides, Turkish ports handled 78 million tons of transit cargo in 2021.
