Turkish Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport's cargo turnover up for April 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. The cargo turnover of Adnan Menderes Airport in Turkey’s Izmir grew in April 2022, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, this figure equaled 33,303 tons, up by 43 percent on annual basis.

The airport's cargo turnover on domestic flights in April this year amounted to 22,408 tons (an increase of 13 percent compared to the same month of 2021), and on international flights – 10,895 tons (a rise of two times), the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the passenger traffic at the airport exceeded 2.3 million people, which is 58 percent more year on year. At the same time, the passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to over 1.8 million people (an increase of 32 percent), and on international – 552,657 people (an increase of 3.4 times).

The ministry also noted that the number of flights operated in April 2022 amounted to 17,378, which is 37 percent more than in last year’s April. Of these, 12,690 accounted for domestic flights (an increase of 12 percent), and 4,688 - for international ones (an increase of 2.3 times).

Passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey amounted to 41.1 million people in April 2022, and cargo turnover – was 1.05 million tons, while last year the indicators amounted to 128.3 million people, and cargo turnover – of 3.3 million tons.
