Turkey’s chief EU Negotiator starts new Europe tour

( Cihan ) - Turkey's Chief EU Negotiator Ali Babacan has started a new Europe tour, during which he will meet high level politicians and other officials.

Babacan left for Switzerland late on Monday and he will deliver a speech at a conference on investment.

On Wednesday, Babacan will move on to France and will have a series of meetings in the European Parliament in Strasbourg for two days.

He will come together with chairmen of political groups in the EP and meet Joost Lagendijk, chairman of Turkey-EU Joint Parliament Committee. A courtesy visit to the EP President Hans-Gert Pottering is also scheduled for Babacan.

Following the completion of his meetings in France, Babacan will go to Bucharest on Thursday, which will be his first visit to the newest member of the EU. Babacan will meet Romanian Secretary of State for European Affairs as well as Finance Minister and the leader of the country's main opposition party.

Next week, Babacan will also pay visits to Hungarian capital Budapest and Bulgarian capital Sofia.
