Identity of Ankara bomber revealed

. ( Cihan ) - Ankara Governor Kemal Onal announced that the suicide bomber that carried out the attack on Tuesday was Guven Akkus, 28, from central Turkish province of Sivas.

Onal said that, besides the bodies of the six dead people, some body parts were found on the scene. Using fingerprints from two fingers they discovered on the scene, the police determined the identity of the bomber.

Akkus is reported to have two criminal records but the bomber's previous crimes were not specified.

The mechanism of the bomb and the nature of the attack indicate that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) may be responsible for the attack but the governor hesitated to confirm the information as the investigation into the case continues.

The bomb Akkus activated killed six and wounded 100 people Tuesday in Ankara's Ulus district. The bomber activated the device at 6.50 p.m. a time when people are on their way back home.
