( Cihan ) - Former Turkish Prime Minister Mesut Yэlmaz announced he would put up for the parliament as independent candidate. Yilmaz spoke at a rally in Black Sea region province of Rize.

He said that the Democratic Party (DP), coalition of the Motherland Party (ANAP) and True Path Party (DYP), proposed to him to enter the elections as the independent candidate from DP's list.

"I will enter the elections as independent candidate" said Yilmaz and continued, "but if DP decides to enter the race with the right people I cannot hesitate to help them."

On May 3 the parliament set, with unanimous vote, July 22 for early parliamentary elections in line with a proposal from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). The proposal of the AKP came two days after the Constitutional Court annulled the first round of the presidential vote held on April 27.
