Nebraska Senator Benjamin Nelson and Co-Chairman of the group Ed Whitfield spoke for the press following the meeting and said that United States should take further steps in countering terrorism in north Iraq but stressed that the United States did not approve of turkey's cross- border operations in the region.

The congressmen also commented on the violation of Turkish airspace by US F-16 fighters on the border between Turkey and Iraq and Nelson said that discussions over the incident were going on and he believed that a solution would be reached without any problems.

Whitfield added that there was no secret intention behind the violation and added that it could not harm the already good relations between the countries.
