( Cihan ) - Police detained 14 people in connection with Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkish province of Sirnak.

The operations were carried out in Sirnak's Cizre and Silopi districts and the detained were accused of recruiting terrorists for PKK.

Two of the detainees were reported to be about to join PKK on the mountains near Sirnak.

The suspects were handed over to public prosecutors office after police completed the interrogation.

Terrorist activities across Turkey have experienced a resurgence following the ending of the unilateral cease-fire of the PKK terror organization.

The PKK was blacklisted as a terrorist organization by the US, the EU, Britain, Australia, Canada and much of the international community, and has claimed the lives of more than 35,000 people in Turkey since between 1984 and 1999, when its leader, Abdullah Ocalan, was captured.
