Wyoming reports first coronavirus death, marking loss of life in all 50 U.S. states

Wyoming reported its first death from the novel coronavirus on Monday, the final U.S. state to report a fatality from the outbreak, Trend reports citing Reuters.

A man in Johnson County with underlying health conditions was the state’s first fatality, Governor Mark Gordon posted on Twitter.

“This one was close to home and sadly serves as a grim reminder of the importance of following public health orders and guidance so we can reduce the number of serious illnesses and deaths in our state,” he wrote.

Wyoming has 270 reported cases, the smallest number of any state and close to the 272 reported cases in Alaska. New York state has the most with nearly 200,000 cases and there are a total of over 570,000 reported COVID-19 infections in the United States, according to a Reuters tally.

The first U.S. coronavirus fatality was reported on Feb. 29 in Washington state. There have now been nearly 23,000 coronavirus deaths in the United States, according to the Reuters tally.
