WEF report shows Azerbaijani development policy has no alternative: expert

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 17

By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:

Socio-economic reforms being implemented in Azerbaijan strengthen the country’s economy and increase the well-being of citizens, editor-in-chief of Azerbaijani newspaper “Ses”, expert Bahruz Guliyev said Oct. 17.

"In this regard, it is no coincidence that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan is attracting attention as a power in the region," he said.

Guliyev said that all the success achieved are reflected both in the life of Azerbaijan and in international reports.

“For example, on October 16, a Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum (WEF) was presented,” the expert said. “In the report, which was prepared on the basis of an absolutely new methodology, the achievements and success of Azerbaijan were in the first place.”

The expert noted that transnational projects implemented on the initiative and with the participation of Azerbaijan also increase the country’s prestige, its importance in the world, and strengthen Azerbaijan’s position.

“TAP, TANAP and Southern Gas Corridor, connecting the Caspian, Black and Mediterranean seas, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, which is an important project in the Eurasian geo-strategic space, have been already implemented directly at the initiative of Azerbaijan,” said the expert. “A reliable transport corridor has been formed for continuous transport links between the West and the East.”

Guliyev added that eventually Azerbaijan has become an attractive and significant country both for the East and for the West.

“Thanks to all this, Azerbaijan is among the rapidly and dynamically developing states,” said the expert.

The WEF report shows that the development policy pursued in Azerbaijan has no alternative, he noted.

“At the same time, the presence of Azerbaijan in one row with such countries as Turkey, Serbia, South Africa and Croatia speaks of the dynamic development and progress of the country,” Guliyev added.
