BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 29. The delegation headed by Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev held several bilateral meetings within the framework of the 74th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for Europe, Trend reports.
According to information, a meeting was held with WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. At the meeting, Teymur Musayev stressed that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to close cooperation with the World Health Organization and expressed gratitude for the support provided by WHO to Azerbaijan over the past period.
In turn, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus noted the importance attached by President Ilham Aliyev to cooperation with the World Health Organization. The WHO Director-General expressed confidence that the planned joint projects will be successfully implemented.
Moreover, a meeting was held with the newly re-elected Chairman of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, Hans Henri Kluge. Congratulating Kluge on his re-election to this post, Teymur Musayev pointed out the effective relations of our country with international health organizations, including WHO. He expressed confidence that the initiatives of great importance for the health of citizens will be successfully realized in the future.
The sides also held meetings with delegations headed by Latvian Health Minister Husams Abu Meri and Romanian Health Minister Alexandru Rafila. During the meetings, they emphasized the exceptional role of the heads of state in the development of relations between the two countries. The sides also pointed out the existing potential for the development of relations in the health sector.
In the course of the meetings, congratulations were addressed on the occasion of holding the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in our country. It was also emphasized that Azerbaijan always hosts and organizes international events at the highest level with dignity.
