ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 29. Kazakhstan is a vital partner of Mongolia and a reliable bridge between East and West, said Mongolia’s President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh during a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports.
In expanded talks, Khurelsukh emphasized Mongolia’s interest in deepening collaboration with Kazakhstan across various sectors.
Khurelsukh noted that Ulaanbaatar is closely examining Kazakhstan’s successful economic development model and pledged a special focus on bilateral projects in trade, transportation, logistics, agriculture, and space exploration. He expressed support for Tokayev’s proposal to boost bilateral trade to $500 million, aiming to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.
The discussions also highlighted shared opportunities for joint initiatives in ecological, historical, ethnographic, and economic tourism. President Tokayev proposed showcasing Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage to Mongolian tourists, including visits to the ancient city of Turkestan, which is home to the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, and the Ulytau region, where the Mausoleum of Jochi Khan, the eldest son of Genghis Khan, is located.
"We are eager to develop the Altai tourism cluster with Mongolia and establish joint tourism routes," Tokayev said, underscoring Kazakhstan’s interest in expanding its tourism cooperation with Mongolia.
