(IRNA) - The 2nd follow-up meeting of Iran-Syria Economic Commission concluded its activities here Monday night, issuing a communique.
The communique was signed by Iran's Housing and Urban Development Minister Mohammad Sa'eidi-Kia and the Syrian Economy Minister Amer Hosni Lotfi, the two heads of the commission, reports Trend.
The need for seeing into the proper implementation of the reached agreements is stressed in the communique.
On at hand projects of Iranian auto manufacturers, Iran-Khodro and Saipa in Syria, the Syrian side has asked for sending the first passenger cars of each to the market on pre-scheduled dates and that the produced cars would match the quality control standards.
The Syrian side has also stressed that the manufactured goods in Syria would be presented as Syrian products and they would have the support and backing of the Damascus government.
A US $200mn cement project pursued by an Iranian firm, Ehdas-San'at in Syria's Hamah Province, must be finalized by mid-June 2007.
The two sides confirmed that the construction of ten silos and the head office of the Syrian Silos Co., by the Iranian firm "Silos Development Company" is being pursed satisfactorily and ahead of the schedule, and that the high standards of the completed amount of work are approved.
On projects pursued by the Iranian firm "Pars Wagon" for the Syrian Railways Organization, the two sides convened a session at managing directors of the two sides level and it was agreed that the result and their final decision would be reported to Syrian officials.
According to the communique, Iran and Syria also agreed to implement the entire articles of the previously agreed documents in due course of time.
The two sides also asked for faster establishment of a joint Iranian-Syrian bank, the general points about whose establishment were agreed upon in February 2006.
Iran's Housing and Urban Development Minister arrived in Damascus top an economic delegation on Friday night for a four-day visit and has in addition to his Syrian counterpart met and conferred with this country's Industries Minister, Prime Minister, Transportation Minister, Oil Minister, and Natural Resources Minister separately.
The volume of the Iranian firms' at hand project pursued in Syria is estimated to be around 750 million US dollars, the major part of which is allocated to passenger car manufacturing electrical and electric equipment, and home appliances.
The comparable figure last year was 100 million US dollars, mostly allocated to exports of Iranian manufacture auto spare parts, electrical and electronic equipment, and home appliances.
The two countries' top officials have agreed to increase that level up to three billion US dollars in two to three years.
