BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 18. The countries subjected to colonization are suffering from environmental problems, Kenyan MP Stephen Mutinda Mule said at the “Solidarity for a Colonial-Free and Green Future” event at COP29 in Baku, Trend reports.
He observed that COP29 beckons for the emancipation of communities, shackled like forgotten colonies of the world's nations, from the chains of oppression, while also seeking the lifeblood of funding to heal the wounds of our planet's climate crisis.
“Minor communities are the most impacted by climate change. Colonial legislators are informing people about the outcomes of COP29 and legislation aimed at leveraging climate funding,” he added.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) opened on November 11. COP29, which is being held at the Baku Olympic Stadium, will continue until November 22. It is the largest event organized by Azerbaijan to date, and the first time in the region it is being held in Azerbaijan.
The key expectation from COP29 is to agree on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) on climate finance.
A comprehensive suite of 14 groundbreaking initiatives has been strategically proposed by the COP29 Presidency.
