BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 17. The session at COP29 will be remembered as one of the largest and most impactful parliamentary events in history, said Secretary General of the IPU Martin Chungong during his speech at the Parliamentary Meeting held as part of COP29, which was organized jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

“I am confident that this session will be recorded as one of the largest and most effective parliamentary events we've ever organized. The final document presented is the result of an extensive consultative process that sought to incorporate the views of as many parliamentarians as possible. This effort was aimed at ensuring that each of you feels a sense of involvement and commitment to the recommendations in the document.

This document can be seen as a roadmap for parliaments, with clear and actionable commitments that we are ready to undertake. It also represents the power of unity,” he said.

It’s worth noting that during the Parliamentary Meeting at COP29, organized jointly by the IPU and the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the final document was adopted. After two days of discussions, the participants also defined the next steps in the fight against climate change.
