BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 16. The role of cutting-edge pollution control and emissions capture technologies is critical in addressing climate change, said US congressman Morgan Griffith at a press conference on the sidelines of COP29, Trend reports.

Griffith pointed to specific advancements in his district, including technologies targeting methane emissions from coal bed methane deposits and active coal mines. “We now have a company directly extracting methane from active mines. This innovation has the potential to be implemented globally,” he noted.

He also highlighted a firm developing specialized filtration systems capable of isolating specific gases from industrial emissions. “You tell them what kind of gas you want to pull out—whether from a factory or the atmosphere—and they can do it. It’s a game-changer,” Griffith stated.

The congressman underscored the importance of not penalizing regions rich in natural resources while striving for climate goals. “An area with natural resources shouldn’t be forced to abandon fossil fuels entirely. Instead, with the right technology, we can find balanced solutions,” he argued.

Griffith voiced his commitment to advocating for these technologies, both domestically and globally, at COP29. “I’m here to share these ideas, because with innovation, we can achieve a cleaner America and a cleaner world,” he concluded.
