BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15. Japan's key goals are achieving decarbonization, economic growth, and stable energy supply, alongside the implementation of diverse approaches to carbon neutrality, said Takehiro Tajiri, Deputy Director-General for Green Transformation Policy at Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Trend reports.

Speaking at the ministerial conference on carbon emissions management within COP29, Tajiri emphasized that Japan seeks to tailor its approach to the economic and energy conditions of each country, leveraging all available technologies and energy sources to meet these objectives.

"We are committed to considering the unique economic and energy conditions of each country while utilizing all available technologies and energy sources. To achieve these goals, Japan introduced the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Business Act in May 2024, which provides a legal framework for the growth of this industry. In addition, we are supporting nine cutting-edge CCS projects designed to establish a comprehensive value chain—from CO2 capture to transportation and storage solutions," he said.

Tadjiri also noted Japan's active role in advancing global carbon management technologies. In collaboration with the ASEAN and East Asia Economic Research Institute, Japan is facilitating the exchange of knowledge on technological development and legal regulation in the Asian region.

"These initiatives underscore Japan’s commitment to innovative approaches and international cooperation to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030," he added.
