BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15. The launch of the Clean Energy Center aligns with Azerbaijan's proactive stance within the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and its contribution to advancing clean energy initiatives, ECO Secretary General Asad Khan said at the launch event for the ECO-UNIDO Clean Energy Center, Trend reports.
“The establishment of the ECO ‘green’ energy center in Baku, in collaboration with UNIDO, is a significant testament to our collective commitment to the clean energy agenda. This Center is poised to play a key role in the transformational process, while also supporting the creation of the ECO Regional Electricity Market, focused on sustainable energy. The idea for the Center emerged from consultations between ECO and UNIDO.
The primary goal of the project, he explained, is to enhance member states' access to modern, affordable, reliable, and environmentally sustainable energy services, while ensuring energy security and reducing the negative environmental impacts of the energy sector.
The Center will foster favorable conditions for the development of regional sustainable energy markets and attract significant investment. We are confident that it will become a key component of the global network of regional sustainable energy hubs. Our sincere thanks go to Azerbaijan for taking the initiative to host the Center. This decision reflects Azerbaijan’s proactive stance within the ECO and its ongoing commitment to advancing clean energy under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev," he said.
