BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 16. Within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with UN Assistant Secretary General for Rule of Law and Security Alexander Zuyev, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said, Trend reports.
It was noted that issues arising from the current agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN, as well as Azerbaijan's chairmanship of COP29, were discussed at the meeting.
The importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN for the successful organization of COP29 was noted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that along with the organizational aspects of COP29, one of the main priorities is its substantive and useful essence. The Minister spoke in detail about the course of the session and the progress achieved in the negotiation process.
The Assistant Secretary General noted the high level of organization of COP29, congratulated Azerbaijan on this achievement and wished success in the chairmanship.
Alexander Zuyev, speaking about his participation in high-level events held within the framework of COP29, emphasized the benefits of thematic meetings for exchanging views.
It was noted that Azerbaijan's efforts in combating the threat of mines deserve praise, in particular, the announcement of humanitarian demining as the 18th national Sustainable Development Goal is an example for combating this international threat.
In addition, along with humanitarian demining activities, the importance of implementing joint projects for the rehabilitation of mine victims was emphasized.
During the meeting, an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place.
