BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15. Azerpost LLC intends to use electric or hybrid cars for its postal operations to reduce its environmental footprint, Trend reports.

Speaking during a panel discussion on "Leveraging Postal Networks to Influence Global Freight Emissions," acting chairman of Azerpost, Isa Mustafayev, highlighted the company's climate initiatives.

"The national postal operator of Azerbaijan is diligently executing climate policies to mitigate its environmental impact. Azerpost LLC is enhancing delivery routes to reduce fuel usage and carbon emissions. Furthermore, we intend to integrate electric or hybrid vehicles into our fleet. The company is minimizing paper consumption and advocating for digitization.

We are enhancing the printing process to reduce paper use. Energy efficiency, sustainable logistics, diminished paper usage, and worldwide collaboration are the principal factors propelling the advancement of a 'green' future for Azerbaijan's postal sector," Mustafayev said.

To note, Azerpost LLC has functioned as a state enterprise since 1999. It became a full member of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC) in 1991, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in 1992, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1993, and the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) in 2000.Azerbaijan Post achieved significant milestones by being elected to the Administrative Council, the organization's governing body, for the first time at the 23rd UPU Congress in Bucharest in 2004. Subsequently, at the 24th Congress in Geneva in 2008, it secured positions in both the Administrative Council and the Postal Operations Council, and was reelected to the Postal Operations Council at the 26th Congress in Istanbul in 2016.
