BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15. Energy transition stands impossible without involving new technologies, Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Ilyas Bakytzhan said during the Ministerial Dialogue on Promoting the Energy Transition Based on Renewable Energy in Central Asia, held in Baku today, Trend reports.
"It's important to note the technological factors, namely that the energy transition is impossible without involving new and the best available technologies.
"In this regard, in our national energy modernization projects, we also take into account Kazakhstan's industrial potential, as well as support for innovation and technology transfer. Achieving carbon neutrality is an important part of our economy, and we generally support the initiatives put forward by the organizer of our COP29, the Azerbaijani side. Overall, our intentions are confirmed by the signed documents," emphasized Bakytzhan.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) opened on November 11. COP29, which is being held at the Baku Olympic Stadium, will continue until November 22. It is the largest event organized by Azerbaijan to date, and the first time in the region that it is being held in Azerbaijan.
The key expectation from COP29 is to agree on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) on climate finance.
A total of 14 initiatives have been put forward by the COP29 Chairmanship.
