BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 17. 75,984 people registered for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Baku, Trend reports.
The majority of those registered, i.e. 57,160 people, are foreigners.
At the same time, those registered for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change represent 197 countries.
It should be noted that the number of people registered for COP29 exceeds the number of people registered for COP26 (44,165) and COP27 (54,109)
On November 11, the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) officially kicked off in Baku.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992, aimed at preventing dangerous human interference with the climate system. COP (Conference of the Parties) is the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change.
With 198 parties to the Convention, COP is held annually unless otherwise agreed. The first COP was held in March 1995 in Berlin, and its secretariat is based in Bonn.
