Iran Materials 29 June 2009 12:44 (UTC +04:00)

Iran has planned to open a permanent galley of Persian art in the French capital Paris to introduce Iranian history, culture and art to European nations, reported Press TV.

The gallery is set to showcase various works of art by Iranian artists. It presents Iran's contemporary artists and allows viewers to easily acquire artworks from Iran.

Calligraphy, miniature, painting, motifs, tile-works, handicrafts and pottery will all be included in the gallery.

"Previous galleries in foreign countries revealed an increasing appetite for Iranian and oriental art, which led us to the idea of opening a permanent gallery in Paris," said director general of visual arts affairs at Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Shalouei.

"Art is rooted in Persian culture and literature. It is beneficial to all to introduce Iranian art to foreign enthusiasts in western countries," he added.

The Iranian officials hope the galley will be opened next month.
