TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 30. Uzbekistan and European companies have come to an agreement on shipping finished textile products and fabrics over to Europe, Trend reports.
The news follows a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Europe's key industry players, such as Trade with Alba Tessile, T.I.S., Ametlab, ItalTex, Sartoria La Torre, SI Group, Rossorame, Weitblick, WLL GmbH, El Corte Inglés, Tendam, Gedepsa, ACIR Southern Europe, LEGS, PPHU JOLA-STYL, Colorinvest, Arlen, and Textile Group.
The sides also came together to set up an Italian-Uzbek joint brand, team up with European e-commerce platforms, and roll out Uzbek trade centers within the EU. Important talks also went over logistics, warehousing, certification, and quality control processes for exported products.
To note, from January to September 2024, Uzbekistan produced textile products valued at 62.6 trillion soums ($4.9 billion). The figure has risen by 26.7 percent year-on-year, amounting to 49.4 trillion soums, or $3.8 billion, for the period of January to September 2023.
The slice of the pie that manufactured textile products took up in the manufacturing industry was a mere 1.8 percent.
