Iranian researchers at Shiraz Medical University have produced a vaccine against nosocomial infection which may lead to septicemia and death, said Davoud Mehrabani, who led the research, Iran Daily reported with reference to ISNA.
"We evaluated the immunogenicity of semi-purified exotoxin A from the bacterium in a mouse burn model," Mehrabani said.
Nosocomial infections result from treatment in a hospital or a healthcare service unit. Infections are considered nosocomial if they first appear 48 hours or more after hospital admission or within 30 days after discharge.
