The Iranian and Afghan foreign ministers Sunday in Tehran reviewed issues of mutual interest as well as the latest regional and international developments, IRNA reported.
Ali Akbar Salehi of Iran and his Afghan counterpart Zalmay Rassoul met and conferred on the threshold of the 2nd international Nowrouz celebrations.
Underlining the importance of establishment of stability, security and tranquility in the neighboring Afghanistan, Salehi stressed that the Afghan people are capable of governing their own country without presence of foreign forces.
For his part, Rassoul appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran's great assistance to his country in the past three decades particularly serving millions of Afghan refugees.
The 2nd world Nowrouz celebrations began in the Iranian capital city in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad this morning.
Presidents from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia and Iraq are also present in the global celebrations being held in the Tehran Saad-Abad Cultural Complex, north of the capital.
A number of officials from other countries, including India, Oman, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Zanzibar and Pakistan as well as the general secretary of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), are taking part in the event.
