Iran has inaugurated its first desert fueling station to facilitate transporting petroleum products, reduce oil tankers' road traffic and increase exports to Afghanistan, Pakistan and countries bordering the Sea of Oman.
The station cost more than $2 million to build. When finished, a pipeline from the Zahedan petroleum storage facility will transport products to the desert station and help reduce tankers traveling on roads. The lines can be used to transport Iran's petroleum products to neighboring countries.
The desert fueling station is connected to two railroad lines for loading and offloading petroleum products. Iran has connected 14 oil depots to rail lines.
