BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 23. Chinese energy companies have been invited to visit Kyrgyzstan to explore the possibility of constructing a hydroelectric power station in the country, Trend reports via Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers.
This proposal was put forward by a Kyrgyz delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev, during a visit to the world's largest hydroelectric power station, Three Gorges Dam, located in China's Hubei Province.
The delegation included Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev and representatives from various government agencies, including the Directorate for Constructing Power Stations and Electric Stations.
During the meeting, both sides discussed current issues in Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation in the hydropower sector, with Chinese energy officials providing insights into the operations of the hydropower station.
To note, Three Gorges Dam is the largest hydroelectric power station in the world, located on the Yangtze River in China. With a total capacity of 22,250 megawatts, the dam stands 185 meters high and spans a length of 2.3 kilometers.
