The Georgian Defence Ministry doesn't plan to participate in any military operation, Defence Minister Irakli Alasania told journalists on Thursday in connection with the problems in Syria and Georgia's possible participation in them.
"We all are glad that diplomacy was given an opportunity to settle this conflict. We all have heard our partner U.S. president's statement which gives diplomacy a chance for activity. Of course we condemn all use of chemical weapons and agree with the international community that all who use them should be punished. Georgia supports the position of the EU and the civilised world. When coming to examine the concrete plans of the Defence Ministry, it doesn't include participation in any military operations," Alasania noted.
Georgia supported the U.S in its actions against Syria. However, Georgian Foreign Ministry stated that Georgia supports only peacekeeping efforts with the U.S. in regard to Syria.
