BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 14. As the ongoing COP29 climate conference enters its fourth day, events related to climate action in the Green Zone continue to unfold, Trend reports.

A panel discussion titled "Climate Finance Landscape in the South Caucasus and Central Asia" was jointly organized on November 14 by the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and "PASHA Holding," a strategic partner for COP29.

The session pulled back the curtain on the current state of climate finance in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, tackling the hurdles in the road and shining a light on future development prospects. Hot-button issues revolved around the push for sustainable investments and bolstering the partnership between the public and private sectors, zeroing in on financial strategies for weathering the storm of climate resilience and adaptation.

The panel featured prominent figures such as Ruslan Khalilov, Chairman of the Board of the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE), Roland Price, Regional Director for South Caucasus at the World Bank, Bahruz Naghiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of PASHA Bank, Hiroko Yano, Executive Director of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Head of the Department for Sustainability Management, and Manas Gizdhuaniyev, CEO of the AIFC Green Finance Centre. Discussions centered on accelerating climate action in the region, increasing and optimizing financial support, and exploring strategic avenues for cooperation.

Moreover, throughout the day in the COP29 Green Zone, a cornucopia of panel discussions took place on topics tied to sustainable development, covering everything from innovative approaches to strategies for cutting carbon emissions, sustainability in industrial sectors, green technologies, sustainable energy, and resource-based economies. Local and international experts shared their insights on these pressing issues. Alongside the panel discussions, visitors to COP29's Green Zone were also treated to film screenings, yoga sessions, and debate-style discussions at the "Extreme Hangout" dynamic area.
