BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 14. Azerbaijan sets ambitious goals to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the total volume of electricity production, the executive director of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) Yusif Abdullayev said at a panel discussion on the "COP29 Business, Investment, and Philanthropy Climate Platform," Trend reports.
“Our goal is not just to showcase our achievements but also to create a platform for dialog, foster collaboration, and inspire innovative solutions. Today we are assembled here with a common goal - to shape a sustainable future for the next generations,” he said.
Yusif Abdullayev noted that through these efforts, the agency seeks to emphasize the critical role of finance in accelerating the global transition in line with the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. It also aims to attract investments that contribute to a more sustainable future and encourages businesses, non-profit organizations, and investors to demonstrate their commitment to climate action and sustainable development.
“I would like to take this opportunity to highlight the significant progress in sustainable energy and invite you to explore investment opportunities in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is actively cooperating with international energy companies on green energy projects for domestic consumption and decarbonization of the economy. Several projects are already under implementation, and key agreements have been signed with companies such as Masdar, ACWA Power, bp, and others. These collaborations emphasize Azerbaijan's proven responsibility,” he emphasized.
According to him, the commitment of such partners emphasizes not only the attractiveness of Azerbaijan's renewable energy initiatives but also the country's reliability for sustainable investments.
“In addition to these ongoing projects, we invite you to explore the vast investment opportunities in fast-growing sectors, especially in renewable energy, digitalization, and sustainable industries,” he added.
