BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 23. A decision has been made on the appeal complaint of former so-called "state minister" of the separatist regime in Azerbaijan's Karabakh, Ruben Vardanyan, against the previous decision to extend his detention, Trend reports.

Vardanyan participated in the proceedings alongside his lawyer.

They requested the cancellation of the arrest decision.

The court, chaired by judge Gadim Babayev, examined the criminal case materials concerning Vardanyan, reviewed the circumstances of the case, and announced the final decision.

Based on the decision, the appeal was rejected as unfounded.

To note, significant suspicions have been revealed that Vardanyan, who is currently a citizen of Armenia, has committed criminal acts under Articles 214-1 (financing of terrorism), 279.3 (participation in the organization and activities of armed formations or groups not stipulated by law), and 318.1 (illegal crossing of the state border of Azerbaijan) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

Moreover, the BBC and other foreign media some time ago published extensive research materials exposing Vardanyan’s actions on money laundering mechanisms in different countries and his other activities and distributed reports from international organizations on this matter.
