ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 18. The total assets of all registered credit institutions in Turkmenistan amounted to over 155.2 billion Turkmen manat ($44.3 billion) as of September 1, 2023, Trend reports.
The data of the Turkmen Central Bank said this marks a 6.7-percent rise compared to the corresponding date in the previous year when it amounted to 145.44 billion Turkmen manat or $41.51 billion.
Of the total assets, loans issued to credit institutions, enterprises, organizations, and citizens at the beginning of September 2023 amounted to 121.97 billion Turkmen manat ($34.81 billion), which is 4.3 percent more than in the same month of 2022 (116.89 billion Turkmen manat, or $33.36 billion).
At the specified time, correspondent accounts in the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and funds in reserve accounts increased by 39.9 percent compared to the beginning of September 2022 (13.74 billion Turkmen manat, or $3.92 billion), amounting to 19.22 billion Turkmen manat ($5.5 billion).
Meanwhile, according to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat against the US dollar on October 17, 2023, is set at 3.5 manat per USD.
