BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5. The President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, is set to visit Poland on November 7 and 8, 2024, marking her fourth visit to the country, Trend reports.
Accompanied by the EBRD's Vice President for Banking, Matteo Patrone, Renaud-Basso aims to engage with Polish authorities, business partners, and civil society representatives to discuss strategies for accelerating the green transition and enhancing the competitiveness of Polish firms.
During her visit, Renaud-Basso will meet with senior government officials and stakeholders to explore shared priorities, including the promotion of renewable energy and the development of capital markets. These discussions are particularly timely, given Poland's significant role in the ongoing reconstruction efforts in Ukraine.
“Poland is one of the EBRD’s top investment destinations, and a key market,” said Renaud-Basso. “We have already invested over 1 billion euros in the Polish economy this year, and we stand ready to invest further. My visit provides an opportunity for us to explore how we can further support Poland’s vibrant private sector amid the challenging economic backdrop.”
The EBRD has established itself as a leading institutional investor in Poland, having invested more than 14.9 billion euros in 544 projects since its operations began in the country in 1991. In 2023 alone, the Bank achieved a record investment of 1.3 billion euros in Poland's private sector.
Renaud-Basso's visit underscores the EBRD's commitment to bolstering Poland's economy and its ongoing support for initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and sustainability in the region.
