ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 6. In a significant meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed Rodolphe Saadé, President of CMA CGM, to discuss the future of Kazakhstan's transportation and logistics sector, Trend reports.

The discussions centered on leveraging Kazakhstan's strategic geographical position to bolster transit routes connecting East to West and North to South.

During the meeting, President Tokayev highlighted the importance of Kazakhstan as a pivotal player in developing these transit corridors. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to attract investment from leading global companies to increase freight volumes and enhance the country’s logistics capabilities.

"We are keen to strengthen our long-term partnership with CMA CGM, which has established its regional headquarters in Almaty," Tokayev stated, underscoring the potential for collaboration in this vital sector.

The conversation also touched on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, or the so-called Middle Corridor, and opportunities for investment in the logistics infrastructure of the Aktau seaport. Additionally, the leaders discussed the construction of container ships designed for operations in the Caspian Sea, aiming to improve maritime connectivity and efficiency.

CMA CGM, one of the world's largest shipping companies founded in France in 1978, boasts an extensive global network with over 600 container vessels and a presence in 160 countries through 400 offices. The company reported sales of $47 billion in 2023, reflecting its significant role in the global shipping industry.
