The volume of cargo transshipment at the Baku International Sea Trade Port Complex increased by 22.5 percent from January through April 2020, Trend reports citing the report of the Baku port.
According to the report, the volume of cargo transshipment in the port increased by 316,900 tons compared to the same period of 2019 (1 million tons), amounting to 1.7 million tons.
The transshipment of vehicles increased by 22.4 percent in the reporting period, amounting to 11,399 trucks compared to the same period of 2019. Meanwhile, dry cargo increased by 4.4 times, amounting to 261,200 tons, containers - by 6.7 percent, amounting to – 10,760 TEU of containers, while rail freight increased by 24.2 percent, amounting to 13,970 wagons.
The annual cargo handling capacity of the port within the first phase is 15 million tons, 100,000 TEU, the ferry terminal - 6.2 million tons per year, the capacity of Ro-Ro vessels – 60,000 units of wheeled vehicles, passenger capacity – 150,000 people, the maximum carrying capacity of the vessels – 7,000-10,000 tons, the maximum length of the vessels -150-160 meters.
