The U.S. Congress passed a bill, whereby Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia can obtain the status of allies of the U.S. without a NATO membership.

Moldovan TV channel TV7 reported that the bill was transferred to the profile commission to be prepared for adoption in its final reading.

The bill grants these countries with an ally status without a NATO membership, during which each of these states will meet the specified criteria for the transfer (or a potential hand over) of defense systems to them or providing them with the defense sector services.

The bill includes recommendations to the U.S. president to expand the U.S. Armed Forces' cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia, as well as, to strengthen the U.S. and NATO assistance in providing these countries' security.

Aside from that, the bill amends the U.S. law 'On natural gas' to support Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova in the energy security.

The bill also prohibits all federal departments and agencies of the U.S. to take action for recognition of Russia's sovereignty over Crimea.
