BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 18. A new Sunday school has opened at the Azerbaijan House in Prague, Trend reports via the State Committee on Work with Diaspora.

"Of course, we want the second and third generations of Azerbaijanis to be attached to their culture. Of course, this is not an easy task. First of all, they must speak the Azerbaijani language. Of course, it is possible to keep the Azerbaijani language alive only in families, but it is not enough. Therefore, we are always ready to help open Azerbaijani schools and Sunday schools. In fact, we are already doing that. Perhaps we need to do it more organized manner because the mother tongue is a crucial factor. The native language brings all Azerbaijani citizens closer together," President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in his address at the V Congress of World Azerbaijanis in Shusha city, on the matter.

Following the directives and recommendations of the head of state, Azerbaijan has been expanding Sunday schools in various countries. The newly established school in Prague (Czech Republic) is part of this initiative. Children of different age groups will study the Azerbaijani language, history, and culture at the school.

The State Committee on Work with Diaspora has provided all necessary educational materials and visual aids for the school and recruited qualified teachers living in Prague. Conditions for teaching and learning have been set up to accommodate dozens of students.

Leila Begim Jafarova, head of Azerbaijan House in Prague, which opened in November 6 this year, stated that the opening of the school is an important event for the Azerbaijani community in the Czech Republic.

One of the parents, Lamiya Akhundova, a mother of three children, expressed her enthusiasm: "My children are very eager to master the Azerbaijani language. They are excited to take part in the Sunday school."

To note, over 100 Sunday schools operate around the world, serving Azerbaijani children and youth abroad, as well as foreigners who appreciate Azerbaijan. These schools are part of a broader network of Azerbaijan Houses in 18 countries, where Sunday schools continue to thrive.
