Seven cities of Georgia held protests against Russia's actions on constructing fences.
Citizens lined up in a human chain during the protests.
Protests started simultaneously at 15:00 on the central streets of Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi, Telavi, Gori, Batumi, and Zugdidi. Young people lined up in a human chain for 15 minutes.
Starting from the May of this year, Russian border guards have been actively setting barbed wire along the administrative border of the Tskhinvali region (the so-called South Ossetia) According to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in some areas the line goes deeper into Georgian territory.The same processes are observed at the administrative border with Abkhazia.
Large scale military action was launched in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.
Russia recognised the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognised republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
