ANTALYA, Türkiye, April 12. Azerbaijan's green energy strategy can shape future geoeconomic landscape on the region, said Elchin Amirbayov, Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments, as he addressed the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Trend reports.
By focusing on clean, renewable energy, Amirbayov believes the region can not only meet current energy demands but also significantly enhance its geoeconomic importance. "By heavily engaging in producing clean green energy, we will, of course, increase the resilience and geoeconomic importance of our region even further," he stated.
Speaking at the panel "Organisation of Turkic States: A Unique Cooperation Model," Amirbayov emphasized the need for regional collaboration to build a more resilient and sustainable energy landscape.
Amirbayov acknowledged the strategic role of existing energy infrastructure, particularly key projects like the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor. "These critical infrastructures have already laid the foundation for energy security and regional connectivity," he said. However, he stressed that diversifying the energy portfolio is essential for the future.
"We must think seriously about expanding our energy horizons. This means developing new green corridors of energy," Amirbayov noted. He highlighted several projects aimed at connecting Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan, and bridging the Caspian Sea, Black Sea, and Europe. Additionally, Azerbaijan’s cooperation with Türkiye and Europe plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of green energy.
The initiative for green energy corridors is seen as a way to boost economic stability while simultaneously addressing the global shift towards sustainability. Through these collaborative efforts, Amirbayov emphasized, the Turkic world has the potential to become a leading force in the green energy transition, making a lasting impact on both regional and global energy markets.
