TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 12. Uzbekistan and World Bank experts discussed steps to improve logistics performance, Trend reports.

The news follows a meeting between Aziz Khujanov, Deputy Director of Uzbekistan's Center for the Study of Transport and Logistics Development, and experts from the World Bank responsible for maintaining the Logistics Performance Index (LPI).

The discussion focused on ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at improving the country’s LPI indicators and the results achieved so far. World Bank Senior Economist Christina Wieser and expert Ernani Argolo shared their recommendations for further enhancing Uzbekistan’s LPI performance and exchanged views on expanding cooperation in this field.

Christina Wieser emphasized that, starting from 2023, the LPI rankings for World Bank member countries are compiled using a new methodology. This updated approach is based on supply chain tracking data and focuses on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics efficiency.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation through several key initiatives. These include sharing the Center’s research and analytical findings in the field of transport and logistics with the experts overseeing the LPI; organizing nationwide training programs to enhance professional qualifications in the transport and logistics sector; and facilitating meetings with experts to exchange information about Uzbekistan’s regulatory framework governing the industry.

Thanks to recent reforms in the development of the national transport and logistics system, Uzbekistan has significantly improved its position in the global LPI ranking - from 118th place in 2016 to 88th in 2023.
