ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 12. The final meeting of the joint working group on defense cooperation between Kazakhstan and India was held in Kazakhstan's Astana, Trend reports via the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan.

The Indian delegation was welcomed by Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Industry and Construction, Rahymjan Isakulov, who noted that enhancing military-technical cooperation with India is a key priority for Kazakhstan’s relevant agencies.

"The Deputy Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Major General Bakytbek Sydykov, and Shri Vishwesh Negi, Joint Secretary for International Cooperation, Ministry of Defense of India, noted the positive dynamics in bilateral defense relations," stated the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

In the course of the meeting, it was emphasized that military cooperation between the two nations is actively expanding in areas such as combat training, military education, and peacekeeping.

The visiting delegates also toured the National Defense University of Kazakhstan. Since 2021, Indian experts have been sharing their knowledge and teaching methodology for English language studies with their Kazakh counterparts at the university.

In August 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Defense University of Kazakhstan and India’s National Defense College. This agreement will facilitate officer training through a master’s degree program based on equal partnership.
