BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. The official visit of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, to Kyrgyzstan is expected in April 2025, Slovakia's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Robert Kirnag, told Trend.
The Ambassador noted that, together with the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), an event will be held in Bishkek on 26 April 2025 as part of Minister Blanár's official visit to Kyrgyzstan. The event will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Interhelpo cooperative in the territory of the former Kyrgyz SSR.
"The event will include a business forum, B2B/B2G meetings, and matchmaking sessions for Slovak and Kyrgyz companies in the following sectors: water management, ICT and smart city technologies, energy (renewable energy sources), environmental protection, waste management, agriculture, and the food industry. About 50 representatives from more than 30 Slovak companies will participate," said Kirnag.
The Ambassador emphasized that Slovakia is ready to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in all areas of mutual interest, particularly in trade and the economy.
"For the eleven months of 2024, the mutual trade balance reached 63 million euro. Slovak exports were worth 60.2 million euro and grew 5.5 times year-on-year. The main export items were pumps (17.6 percent), followed by motor vehicles (11.8 percent) and centrifuges (4.3 percent)," he said.
Kirnag noted that imports from Kyrgyzstan fell to 2.8 million euro, but there is potential to return to previous numbers, at least. Wood products, glass containers, and furniture accounted for the largest share of imports from Kyrgyzstan.
