The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili expressed support for the Muslims of Georgia.
The Georgian President told journalists that he resents the dismantling of a minaret in the village of Chela of Adigeni region (Samtskhe-Javakheti, South Georgia).
"There are hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Georgia, as well as millions of Muslim Georgians live abroad, so their religious feelings can not be offended, this is unacceptable, and those who did this must answer before the law," Saakashvili believes.
Saakashvili also protested against today's arrest of the head of Adigeni region who did not allow the dismantling of the minaret.
Protests were held in a number of Georgian cities in connection with the dismantling of the minaret.
A protest was also held in the village of Chela, where 11 people were arrested.
The minaret was built in Chela village month and half ago.
