Regional Hizb ut-Tahrir leaders accused of corruption

Regional Hizb ut-Tahrir activists in Kyrgyzstan accuse their leaders of corruption, Kadyr Malikov, Director of an analytic research center Religion, Law and Politics told the press conference Tuesday, news agency "24.kg" reported.

"Our researches show that Hizb ut-Tahrir faces financial, ideological and organizational crisis. Discontent with distribution of finances is growing among members of the banned party. Representatives of lower levels accuse their regional leaders of corruption that led to ideological disillusion in the party," Malikov said.

As to the director, the organization loses its members. Groups separate from it and try to form new jaamats and become legal. "Hizb ut-Tahrir has no prospects. The organization could split into two camps - traditionalists and reformers who get tired of underground activity and persecutions," he said.

"Indeed, withdrawal of Hizb ut-Tahrir members from the organization is traced nowadays," Azamat Kutmanaliev, head of the 9th Interior Ministry's department of Kyrgyzstan said.

At least 400 people have reportedly left the party recently.
