The Turkish authorities are studying the case with possible arrest of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party leader Murat Karayilan by Iran, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters today, Anadolu agency reported.

"In this regard, it is necessary to wait for official statements of the Turkish authorities," Davutoglu said.

Iran and Turkey cooperate closely in combating terrorism, the minister added.

Yesterday Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz said Turkish government would publicize an official statement on Karayilan's arrest and sudden statements should not be made in this regard.

Turkish media earlier reported that Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc declared that Kurdistan Workers' Party leader Karayilan have been arrested in Iran, but released after negotiation.

Meanwhile, the local media have repeatedly reported about the arrest of the second man in the leadership of the terrorist PKK.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which has continued for more than 25 years, put an end to lives of over 40,000 people. PKK is recognized as terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
