BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. We aim to optimize COP29's effectiveness in all aspects, Member of the Coordination Council of the COP29 Operating Company Ayan Najaf said at a seminar on the topic "Understanding and analyzing ESG [environmental, social, and corporate governance] reports" in Baku today, Trend reports.

"Our goal and main intention after the preparations is to hold the COP29 conference in a way that is effective and productive in all aspects. We bear a great responsibility in this matter. I would like all global studies to be accessible during these days, and the media to play a key role in covering the event. Representatives of the media will be actively involved, and educational programs for them hold an important place in our strategy. It is encouraging that the foundations for working with key organizations and delegations have already been laid," she added.

To note, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in Azerbaijan in November this year. The decision was made at the plenary meeting of COP28 held in Dubai on December 11 last year.

The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Rio Earth Summit in June 1992 to prevent dangerous human interference in the climate system. The acronym COP (Conference of Parties) stands for Conference of Parties, which is the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change.

A total of 198 countries are parties to the convention. Unless the parties have decided otherwise, COP is held annually. The first COP event was held in March 1995 in Berlin, and its secretariat is located in Bonn.
