SHUSHA, Azerbaijan, October 20. Another group of Azerbaijanis from Georgia, who arrived in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, got acquainted with the sights of Shusha and Aghdam, Trend reports.
A trip to the city of Shusha was organized for the guests this morning.
In the central square of Shusha, the guests viewed the shot monuments of such famous figures of Azerbaijan as Natavan, Bulbul and Uzeyir Hajibeyli. The guests were provided with detailed information about the city. It was noted that historical buildings, mosques and monuments in the city of Shusha were subjected to Armenian vandalism during the thirty-year occupation. After the liberation of Shusha from occupation, large-scale restoration and construction work began here. The guests also got acquainted with the house of Khurshidbanu Natavan and the Yukhari Govhar Aga mosque.
Then in the afternoon, the guests visited Aghdam. The guests who got acquainted with the Juma Mosque located in the city center were informed that the mosque, built in 1868-1870, like other historical and religious monuments, was subjected to Armenian vandalism during the thirty-year Armenian occupation. After the liberation of the city of Aghdam, the mosque was restored by Azerbaijan. The guests also examined the remains of buildings destroyed by Armenians on the central street of Aghdam. It was noted that before the occupation, Aghdam was one of the largest and most developed cities not only in the Karabakh region, but also in the republic. However, during the occupation, Aghdam was razed to the ground and turned into ruins. After the liberation of Aghdam, large-scale construction work began. Currently, construction work is underway in several surrounding villages, as well as in the city center.
To note, the visit of Azerbaijanis from Georgia to Azerbaijan's liberated territories has been carried out in three groups over six days. The first group has already visited Shusha, Khankendi and Aghdam.
